The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a three-hour vocational aptitude test consisting of several practice sessions and eight timed tests. The results of the test provide three academic scores and four occupational scores.
Students who plan to enlist in one of the military branches must take the ASVAB. All military branches, active and reserve, use the scores to determine job placement for recruits. The scores also have an effect on future advancement. These scores are also valuable in career for students who are having difficulty identifying a specific career path.
